Catator strengthens presence in Korea with breakthrough order imminent
Catator AB, a leading developer of catalytic solutions for the hydrogen economy, is entering the South Korean market after six months of focused business development. With growing national ambitions to scale hydrogen production and fuel cell systems, Korea is set to become one of the most important hydrogen markets globally, and Catator is positioned at the forefront.
Since October 2024, Catator has worked actively to establish a local presence in Korea. Together with Catators’ local representative John Kim, the company has now built strong relations with leading industrial groups and initiated discussions expected to result in several breakthrough orders within the coming months. The first project focuses on steam-methane reformers for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) applications, with potential to scale into large-scale hydrogen production of up to 50 MWe.
“Catator’s compact and efficient catalytic reformers are perfectly aligned with Korea’s ambition to lead the global hydrogen economy,” says John Kim. “We are now in advanced discussions with major Korean corporations, and we see clear momentum for long-term partnerships.”
Catator’s Korea entry is part of the company’s long-term strategy to diversify its business into Northeast Asia. Participation in the Global Innovation Accelerator (GIA) program, run by the Swedish Energy Agency in cooperation with Business Sweden, has provided momentum by accelerating local representation and establishing relations with target customers.
Tarras Delin, CEO of Catator comments:
“South Korea combines national strategy, industrial strength and global ambition in hydrogen. With John Kim onboard and a strong local network, we are confident this marks the start of a long-term commitment.”
With over 30 years of expertise in catalytic technologies, Catator develops reformers, burners and reactors based on the CataLite® technology that enable emission-free combustion, efficient hydrogen production and compact energy systems for mobility, marine and stationary applications.
